Curriculum

OUR CURRICULUM IS BOTH INTERNATIONALLY ACCREDITED YET EASILY INTERGRATED LOCALLY

Our school curriculum is CAPS aligned according to the departmental standards, however, we strive for a higher standard by using International resources and curricula. We use resources that are rated amongst the best in the world, such as the Cambridge, Singapore and Oxford curriculums, starting from Grade R and up to our highest grade.

CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH AND SCIENCE

Cambridge International curriculum stretches, challenges and inspires learners. The Cambridge International curriculum is the gold standard for international study.

Renowned for the development of higher order thinking skills, the Cambridge International curriculum stretches, challenges and inspires learners, particularly in the fields of mathematics, science and technology.

(ENGLISH SPECIFICALLY): You’ll find a wide range of international fiction, non-fiction and poetry throughout the book to help your learners develop their understanding of different genres and text types. Each unit is packed with activities that cover reading, writing, speaking and listening, as well as opportunities to develop 21st century skills – such as collaboration and critical thinking. Units end with a project, like designing a board game, to help learners communicate confidently and understand how to apply their learning to real-world scenarios.

(SCIENCE SPECIFICALLY):Cambridge Primary Science gets your learners thinking like scientists! Packed with opportunities to plan experiments, make predictions and gather results, the series helps your learners to think and work scientifically. Each unit ends with a project, like designing a reusable or disposable object, that helps students bring together what they have learnt, and understand how the topics relate to the real world. With vocabulary boxes, clear diagrams and supporting illustrations, the course makes science accessible for learners with English as a second language.

SINGAPOREAN MATHEMATICS

The Singapore Math method was developed by Singapore's Ministry of Math Education and it is taught in public schools in Singapore. This method follows three steps, moving from hands-on math to picture models, to abstract mathematical equations.1 It's proven to be quite an effective way to learn math and many American homeschooling families have adopted it. The framework of Singapore Math is developed around the idea that learning to problem-solve and develop mathematical thinking are the key factors to being successful in math. Without a solid foundational base, students won’t have anything to draw on when it comes to increasingly complicated math learning.

OXFORT HISTORY AND GEOGRAPHY

Oxford International Primary Geography is a course that provides an engaging introduction to the subject. Using real life examples from around the globe, the course covers both human and physical geography, from the basics of mapping to current hot topics such as how to meet the resource needs of the world’s population.

Oxford International Primary History develops inquisitive and engaged learners. Helping students contextualise historical events, it provides a firm foundation to analyse both local and international history. It is based on the English National Curriculum and maintains an international focus.
